CCW would 40sw be worth it or stick with 9mm?

Or you can just save time and money and train with the round you intend to use rather than spend money on a gun and ammo for a round you don't even intend to ever use. As I posted previously, my first gun was a Glock 23, and that was the only gun I had for about a decade. I'm confident that I am more proficient with 40 than most people who claim to be. Did that experience make me a better 9mm shooter, more so than if I had just started shooting 9 for a decade? Maybe. But with that decade of experience under my belt, I say just skip 40 and start shooting 9. There's no reason to shoot 40s anymore unless you still have a couple of them lying around, as I do, most of which I got super cheap for the price of the frames to convert to 9.

And again, I don't hate 40, but I do take issue with anyone claiming they carry it "for bears". LOL. Ok, which species of bear? The kind that don't exist in CA and you'd probably want a rifle instead of a handgun for? Or the species that you can scare off with pepper spray?

Found another shield in 40sw but I’m debating on going for it since the price is good, or get something else in 9mm and keep it consistent. Need a bit of help lol

Debating on a shield plus in 9mm or canik mete mc9 if I don’t go with the shield in 40

not a fan of small guns, carried full size 1911 for years, had glocks 34-35-41 and I felt like those advertised to the world I was carrying while the 1911 made me feel secure, tried compact 1911's and went back to full size. everyone is different, go rent the gun and shoot as many things come into play when you carry from concealment to making sure you hit the target beyond 15 yards because you never know what scenario you will find yourself into.

Shot placement matters more than anything in my humble opinion and 40 will be rowdy in a small firearm like the shield. I say go with the 9 !
 
.40 was my first caliber ever, sold that glock and never looked back. All my pistols are 9mm, 45ACP or 45LC nowadays. I don't think it really has a niche to fill anymore.
 
People saying short and weak are too much to handle need to stick to pepper spray I guess LOL. What a weak society we live in now a days. Not saying 9mm isn't gonna do the job but come on it's a .40 we're not shooting a .454 Casull ROFL........
 
I think this thread has run its course from .40, to Brown Bears, to judging manhood by the caliber one carries, to we must be weak, to finally which caliber would you rather get shot with! :rolleyes:

Get shot where? Since shot placement is what really matters? Youre phucked either way if you get shot in the heart or back of the head.
