I, a lawyer, just got a 7 day ban in r/CAguns for saying I’m a lawyer

You're telling me that talking about medical tests related to the topic of the initial post in the thread is the same as "F- you you'll be dead soon"?

Huh.

I'm a victim of nothing. It's the internet. Anyone offended or as upset as those two over random people on an internet forum asking if they've actually had their blood lead levels checked have serious issues going on in their head.

I just find it amusing the variance of what is allowed and catered to, and what isn't. I'm banned from the thread over asking who has actually been tested but "F- you you're stupid and going to die soon" is allowed. It's just... interesting, is all.
What part of that was removed that you don't get. You're not being singled out. Use the report button. I don't read every single post every single day and neither do all the mods.. There's almost 38k people 1000 posts per day. It might not seem like it but the volulme has increased when you include everything that's posted.

It has nothing to do with interesting. I don't spend my time reading, saying oh i'm gonna f* with this guy today. I owe a bunch of people stickers and have a lot of projects going so forgive me if we don't catch everything.

The main thing is a lot of times, it's just troll posts and not part of the subject. Those are the ones removed, you have comments left here and only banned from a thread because you had more troll posts than substantive posts and like i said i don't want to have to read every post.

If it gets reported, we look at it. Some mods are more strict than others otherwise it turns into the L over time. The one thing I don't like about this style of forum is its not threaded.

If it was threaded I wouldn't care as much because you'd be bound to your own string, but if everyone has to read it then it should go.

The post about your medical test is still there. I'm talking about the other 6-10 you had a string with two other members.

Pieces of it were removed, sure. But looking back into the thread there's still quite a bit of one sided crap there. Including much of the derogatory commentary from one who can apparently still post on the thread who is the one talking about people being dead soon. I think it's comical that the guy (me) asking for legitimate lead contamination numbers and science, and who provided information about an experience with it, is banned and force-blocked from the dude still posting in the thread after talking about the death of other forum members.

It's the internet, and this piece of the internet is yours. I get it. I'm just amused by the ridiculousness of that vast spread of what you allow and what you don't.

Example: the attached screenshot? Perfectly acceptable for that dude who's still there and posting in it.

Me talking about actual blood lead level tests reading nothing after many many years of no additional precautions besides washing hands...and suggesting that folks with kids take additional precautions? Banned!

🤣🤣🤣

It doesn't hurt my feelings. I just find it funnier by the minute how silly and irrational the whole thing is.

Use the report button.
Why would I want to waste your and other mods' time? Silly ass statements don't need to be removed. Let people show their true colors so we know who they are. Blocking and banning and hiding from them is...well...silly. 🙄

That was removed when i removed your comments too.. If you notice it says 5 minutes ago at 8. It's his thread or he would've been banned, i locked it at first, but lead levels is no joke.

If you shoot, you're at risk.. Most people don't take the precaution. I do and my lead level was at 6. I've had friends who were 15+. So I unlocked it threadbanned people who didn't really contribute to the conversation and left. Seems pretty straightforward and practical to me. Not like I was targeting anyone.

I don't want to ban people if I don't have to. I get notifications when people report. When we're proactive people complain, when we don't do much people complain... The one fact I've come to learn is people love to complain! Look at me now!

So as long as you start the thread, you can be a 🌮 and get away with it, while continually (like 8 minutes ago) still keep being a d-bag towards those who tried to offer legitimate science backed information and were banned for it. Got it. 😆🤣
(I'm mostly curious if that will be auto-edited out by the software or not).

Do you not see how you're taking over these threads? Would you like a refund? I'm growing tired of this.. I get A LOT of complaints about your attitude.. I'm going to try again. You're taking it too far...

Well that is untrue. Which of these attached posts is contributing and which adds nothing?

And which of those people is banned and which is not? 😆

No, I don't want a refund. Where does that come from? I contributed to a project which I hope continues to grow and expand and become a better and better resource for people. I have no interest in taking away from that.

As for this thread, isn't the overall topic that of ridiculous banning of contributors over statements of fact on a Caguns platform? That is exactly what my comments are in regard to, and it's directly in line with the topic. 🙄

Excellent point sir! Public shaming works great! Hiding and deleting some posts while encouraging others with childish behavior certainly doesn't. 🙂

Mod is all up in his feelings after disagreeing with something I said. Told him I wasn’t going to argue the point, but that I’d put my law degree up against his any time.

He then tried to start an argument and accused me of impersonating an attorney. I reported him for harassment for accusing me of committing a crime and he banned me for 7 days and said I’m not allowed to “misrepresent my credentials” when I come back.

I’m trying to decide if that means I’m not allowed to say I’m not an attorney or if I have to preface everything with, “As an attorney…”
Send him this!! ;) Attorney vs. lawyer: a lawyer has legal training, while an attorney is a lawyer who has passed the bar and is licensed to represent clients in court—so all attorneys are lawyers, but not all lawyers are attorneys.

This just isn't true in the US. Every UPL statute using either of those terms that I can find, and the ABA, use the terms interchangeably. As does every lawyer/attorney I know.

Yes, I’m both a lawyer and an attorney. In modern practice there’s no real difference between the two. Historically, “attorney” meant someone authorized to represent clients in court, while “lawyer” could be anyone trained in law. I don’t care which term clients use—I was just giving you a hard time.
