Mod is all up in his feelings after disagreeing with something I said. Told him I wasn’t going to argue the point, but that I’d put my law degree up against his any time.

He then tried to start an argument and accused me of impersonating an attorney. I reported him for harassment for accusing me of committing a crime and he banned me for 7 days and said I’m not allowed to “misrepresent my credentials” when I come back.

I’m trying to decide if that means I’m not allowed to say I’m not an attorney or if I have to preface everything with, “As an attorney…”

That's the point of certain things, but it should only be enough to give someone . Not enough to the point where they get butt hurt.. I have a whole topic on shaming flakers, ghoster, and low ballers. Ironically there's plenty of people who talk about being too soft who don't want it.

It’s crazy how bad Reddit mods are. Reddit mods are a meme for a reason. They’re mostly left leaning dysfunctional people. Maybe I’m wrong, but I think most Reddit mods don’t even have anything to do with the communities they moderate, they’re just full time mods for a bunch of subs who happen to moderate the sub your on. I’ve been banned from a bunch of subs I’ve never even visited or would want to visit because of things I’ve said in completely unrelated subs or simply subscribed to subs. Reddit is a crazy cesspool, even on the “right wing” focused subs like guns etc

Looking at the mods in the subreddits I see (which isn't many), that conclusion is wrong. It is definitely wrong for r/caguns. What the mods there do: They remove outright political discussion and political grandstanding.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I think most Reddit mods don’t even have anything to do with the communities they moderate, they’re just full time mods for a bunch of subs who happen to moderate the sub your on.

At least for the mods of r/caguns that I know, that statement is wrong. They are not full-time, they are not paid, and they are deeply involved with guns. EDIT: The "tongs" here earlier was autocorrect turning a spelling error into a not funny joke.

And as discussion of other discussion places has shown, allowing unfettered political grandstanding can easily destroy a place where discussions about technical and legal topics (such as guns) is to be had.

Let me also tell you another little secret: Here in California, a significant fraction of all gun people are not republicans, not conservative, nor right wing. Judging by the people I talk to, I would guess that around a third (perhaps a quarter or half) of all CA gun people are better described as progressive or centrist.

I will say I have never sensed the mods on CAGuns to lean politically one way or the other. And the only real “political” discussions I remember seeing there were pretty much focused on the constitutionality of gun laws.

Reddit mods being mostly left leaning dysfunctional people is a provable fact. It’s a stereotype for a reason. And mods running multiple subs they have no interest in or anything to do with is how things are run on Reddit in general. This is readily available information. I don’t know about r/caguns which is why I didn’t mention it, I was just speaking in generalities about Reddit. I’m sure not all the r/caguns mods are dysfunctional s or else the sub would have been quickly shutdown, so there’s gotta be great people moderating it willing to put in the effort to stand between the sub and the crazy administration of Reddit. There is a very well documented history of “right wing” subs being shut down simply for existing without breaking any TOS or doing anything illegal, and they were usually just purposely moderated out of existence by overbearing mods who disagreed with whatever the sub was about

I totally agree that guns shouldn’t be right wing, which is why I put “right wing” in quotes. I should’ve been more specific what I meant by the quotes I guess. But colloquially, and especially on Reddit, anything to do with guns is almost considered far right at this point. Same with pro police subs, which have been shut down and the reason being “far right…” whatever reason they think of. Politics should have absolutely nothing to do with guns, but unfortunately in general, gun issues are widely considered a right wing cause

And I live in California so the “little secret” you shared isn’t so much a secret lol half the courses I attend have an obvious 50/50 split of left/right, but I’m sure that has to do with where I am located. Last class I was in a “right wing” person got reprimanded for getting too political, and then a “left wing” person called the instructor a racist who we should all fear having a gun on him, and then stormed out lol this is California

Is this standard group think here? I'm also a lawyer and am new here, but being a vegan doesn't mean you're not pro 2nd amendment. They're unrelated. Don't care if you kill or eat animals even if I don't.
