I, a lawyer, just got a 7 day ban in r/CAguns for saying I’m a lawyer

Is this standard group think here? I'm also a lawyer and am new here, but being a vegan doesn't mean you're not pro 2nd amendment. They're unrelated. Don't care if you kill or eat animals even if I don't.

There's joke that goes "how do you know someones a vegan, they already told you" and the same joke about crossfitters and I think there's some truth to it which makes it mildly funny. I've never heard it about lawyers though. My favorite variation of the joke is : how do you know a hippy has been to your house? they're still there. it's actually not nearly as funny when you write it out...

Mod is all up in his feelings after disagreeing with something I said. Told him I wasn’t going to argue the point, but that I’d put my law degree up against his any time.

He then tried to start an argument and accused me of impersonating an attorney. I reported him for harassment for accusing me of committing a crime and he banned me for 7 days and said I’m not allowed to “misrepresent my credentials” when I come back.

I’m trying to decide if that means I’m not allowed to say I’m not an attorney or if I have to preface everything with, “As an attorney…”

My grandfather was an attorney. He was a fan of writing letters laying out the legal consequences for someone's particular action. Many times, the behavior changed and an apology was returned.

Yes unfortunately making fun of vegans isn't the worst thing you will see from the gun community. They haven't figured out yet that embracing non traditional gun owners i.e. minorities, vegans, lgbt, etc, is the most concrete thing they can do to help with the acceptance of guns and better gun laws.

I’m not sure how someone could possibly read that joke and come to the conclusion that it had anything to do with the 2nd Amendment.

It looks to me like you just saw it as an opportunity to let us all know that you’re vegan.

Most mods are low key here. I think you’ve seen i try to be fair but if you’re going to come after the owner be ready to be kicked out. This isn’t some place we all gather, I have to build it and keep building.

My MO is it’s ok to disagree but just be respectful about it. I think a lot of people forgot how to be politely disrespectful and go straight to internet trolling. There’s an in between. The biggest difference about this site, is it’s a hybrid. You can and are likely to meet people from online here with better success rate than online dating!

So main thing is maintaining decorum, some people feel it’s overreach but if you’re in someone’s house, gotta respect their rules. I have nothing against you or know you. I think you can tell we come down hard on people who are disruptive more than a specific side.

Imagine if we banned people because we said they were wrong. I wouldn’t even be here

Mr Mister and the other yahoo started ranting and raving and saying "how are you so F-ing stupid" and throwing around "its okay boomer you'll be dead soon" talk, (while saying I'm apparently a boomer because I'm over 30?) But I'm not allowed to respond to their question about who actually had the medical test done. Apparently them saying "you're F-ing stupid" is ok here but giving rational factual knowledge is not.

The internet is a very strange and funny place.

I'm a victim of nothing. It's the internet. Anyone offended or as upset as those two over random people on an internet forum asking if they've actually had their blood lead levels checked have serious issues going on in their head.

I just find it amusing the variance of what is allowed and catered to, and what isn't. I'm banned from the thread over asking who has actually been tested but "F- you you're stupid and going to die soon" is allowed. It's just... interesting, is all.
