I bought a Jacob Grey Hex

So I just bought a Jacob Grey Hex a couple weeks ago and finally shot it today. My plan was to make it my new everyday carry. I was a little upset that I didn't know the Hex Pro was about to be released, but also don't think I would have spent another grand.
When I shot it today, it was surprisingly snappy in my wrist. Maybe it's because of the aluminum frame and grip, or the ports? All I know is I brought my Staccato XC, MAC 9 DS Comp and the Hex. The Hex was my least favorite of the day. Obviously, I must be a compensator guy. Nothing comes close to my XC, and I'm not a Staccato fan any longer now that they went all in on the stupid HD line! My duty gun is the Staccato C, and I'm pissed that they discontinued the V3 line. DUMB!
The MAC 9 felt softer than the Hex. I will say, the Hex did return to zero well, but it was just kinda painful to shoot. Maybe I'm just a big 🐙 guy, I don't know. It might just be for sale in a year because of the big, stupid, retarded CA DOJ not letting me sell it.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I guess to make this post make sense, let me know what you think about port vs. comp?
I'm not trying to sound like a DB because I get to buy guns like a normal American. If I could, I'd sell it right now for what I'm into it for.

Wow interesting thoughts, I literally just traded my CZ Shadow 2 for the Hex pickup is next week I'm really exited to take it to the range.
Most ppl I've talked to or read online really had only good things to say
I have V ports on my Shield plus and a comp with my 365 axg but really got to shoot them back to back and see what i prefer
Hopefully while sitting on it for a year you'll get used to it maybe like it again

I have the hex with both ported and non-ported barrels. I have the non-ported for when I want to shoot limited optics in USPSA. I absolutely love my hex though.

I would ask what ammo are you using? That would be a big factor on the snappiness.

I to am a “big” guy I suppose, but I have zero issue shooting that gun. That and my 5in 2011 are my competition guns.

UPDATE:
I got the Recoil Reaper in and now I LOVE this gun! Holy crap it shoots flat, and I don’t feel the harshness in my wrist anymore. I let a few Staccato guys shoot it and they all loved it and thought it was super flat.
Next I’m going to try the Reaper in my MAC 9 DS Comp.

That’s good to hear. When are you gonna put the video out for it?

Add the reaper recoil with a 9lb spring + find a gunsmith to adjust trigger reset more positive and adjust trigger weight to 2lbs and youll thank me later.

Yeah I'm definitely an outlier there. I notice and care about these things, strange though it may be.
You down with OCD, yeah you know me. 😁

Edit: I guess Naughty by Nature reference might be a little old for most folks here, lol. MTV played the 💩 out of it back in the day.

Build quality for the price is great for the Hex

The way it runs, it’s not great for a 2011. Jacob Greys are budget 2011s imo. Trigger isn’t smooth, it’s gritty to me.

I checked out a Dark Forge recently. Gun certifiably F-s. Better than Atlas. (Yes yes, I’m aware it’s not in the same price range)

Dark forge is just rogue, so it’s not unexpected. Also, the ported and comped reaper absolutely holds up well against Atlas. It’s only really beaten very slightly by the Hades and Chaos V2. Atlas does win for me with the alpha grip still, but that’s personal based on your grip.

It came with a factory 2lbs trigger. I have the Recoil Reaper now, it’s much better. I think I prefer comped guns to ported. 🤷‍♂️
Maybe I’ll sell it next year and order a Nighthawk TRS Comp. 😎
