If you sell a complete slide at an FFL, what is the fee and what is required?

Hello,

Instead of ranting and raving about it.. what is the actual cost to transfer a complete slide through an FFL? Also what paperwork is required for the purchaser?
(I feel disgusted even having to ask a question like this..)

Thanks in advance

Matt

Edit: see post 31..

Like $20, I bought a complete geissele upper and got it delivered to my ffl and they charged $20 to release it to me.

From what I’ve seen, some FFL’s will laugh at you. Some will charge you and other will just say go ahead. YMMV

There is no standard for FFL’s. The state made the law and didn’t tell FFL’s how to handle it.

Kind of like when the ammo transfer joke happened..

Thanks for the info guys!

I just read slide

To be pedantic you mean a complete upper assembly

Yeah I guess they are going to require FFL good luck enforcing it

I stated complete slide in the title but yeah I feel stupid even having to post the question.

Edit: also this site makes you check 2 boxes about so it's not just me

A complete slide is separate than the barrel which is its own component

I just bought a complete slide (all pins, extractor, optic plate etc) no barrel no FFL needed

To me a complete slide is complete and ready to shoot.

But all good either way

Just like ammo transfers, there is no set fee.

Each FFL has it's own policy, which can range from "We won't do it", to "We'll do it for a fee", to "We'll do it for free if you buy something over $100 from us"

I'd reach out to a few local FFL's and inquire how/if they would handle the transfer

its this.

walking in and doing a PPT will get the laugh. Purchasing a barrel, or complete barrel/slide from a supplier (ie: Faxon for example) means they wont ship except to an FFL - the receiving FFL will have a fee, and depending if you paid it or not have to charge you tax etc.

Yes, I have no idea about this, that's why I asked.

Thanks

We do this so regulators know we do more than the status quo w.r.t. educating the public on current issues. They seem to be going after Ghost printers right now and that sub market. So we want to 1.) steer clear of anything related to that 2.) illustrate that we have compliance experience (SOC 2, FedRamp, other controls). That's data management and handling but also with creating SOP's and training/educating users. Since there is no guidance for it, we're creating our own standard with what we have. We give more than a reasonable effort, compared to the norm.

It is annoying, but that little checkbox got you to ask the question about SB704, so it served its purpose and you acknowledged it. So departments that check us out know we're helping people understand what's out there and trying to be a model of what's acceptable. Even if we don't like it.

Way to proactively stay ahead of all the legal/regulatory BS.

That little checkbox worked, and got the discussion going. Disgusting as the conversation may be, lol

I've bought many slides, and was looking at a couple more for some porting and optic cuts, and while I was aware of SB704, I hadn't done the deep dive until now

Thanks @22plinker for asking, I needed to know too.

Yeah, a "complete slide" always comes with a barrel.
No they don’t lol a barrel is a separate component that is not attached to the slide. The slide assembly does not include a barrel:

Can be sold with barrel included of course. But if you’re gonna be that specific you should say barrel included since it’s a legal issue now.

If they “always” come with a barrel then why do many complete slide assemblies not?

Choose your words more accurately in the future.

Whoever is downvoting you is completely wrong. Slides don't need FFL only the barrel in this instance and this "$20" fee is completely ridiculous.

Haha, NOPE!

You can look at it however you want but if I (or anyone else) purchased a "COMPLETE SLIDE" from you or anywhere else and there was no barrel, we'd have a problem.

I agree with just about everything you post but I'm going to call total BS on this one.
