Mag Disconnect - do you just accept it?

Probably showing clear.

It probably matters more in a defensive scenario more than many others tbh. You can unknowingly bump the mag release IWB (especially if your holster doesn't fully protect the mag release, you run an extended mag release for one handed manipulations, etc.) or it can get hit in an entanglement/gun grab situation. If the mag is unseated or dropped you've got the round in the chamber (hopefully) to solve the problem or until you can recover the matter/reload if you carry a spare.
How would the disco have an extra step for showing clear? You’d just be racking the slide no? Or dry firing as well

That sounds like a horrible nightmare type of scenario. I don’t mess with my carry guns too much. Just optics and barrels, and my holsters always cover my touch points

But that does make sense. That would be a terrible day

The commands after the stage are usually "if finished, unload and show clear. if clear, hammer down and holster." To pull the trigger you'd need to reinsert an empty mag or for some guns (like the Staccato HD) you can press the mag release and the trigger at the same time to bypass the MD. Adds an extra step that way.

It's usually only someone at their very first match that still has a mag disconnect, it's not the end of the world but it does make the process like 4 times longer, especially because it's a beginner who doesn't know the rules well and is fumbling around as it is. I've definitely pulled my CCW out before and the magazine is loose, even if your holster covers the button it can sometimes shift around enough to press it. Then there's the echelon with true ambi mag release that can dump the mag just from gripping slightly off.

“Loaded when up/out” bothers me more. Looks silly. Makes us look like we are dumb. Like “Gas” written on the gas cap on my car. Really?
for how many people put diesel in their car, the lowest common denominator needs it LOL. we had a buddy growing up that got a motorcycle and when he "changed his oil" he just emptied it and thought that it was generated as a waste product somehow in the motor. He did not fill it again before he started the motor.

We got "caution, contents hot" on coffee cups because of idiots

As someone who has had a md fail and render a gun inoperable that I used for work I remove all of them. Not worth the additional failure point for a serious use gun.

I don’t have many on roster guns but I think I have exactly one gun with an intact md. A P322 plinker I bought for my wife to learn to shoot on & now that I think about it…it’ll probably get removed today.

I have one gun with a mag disconnect, it sucks. I will not buy another one that has one. i’ll spend money for off roster or wait until I move back out of state.

Will not have a gun with a mag disconnect, period.

The LCI, if done right, doesn’t bother me. I like them in fact. Means I do not have to F- around with a “Loaded” gun to verify it in fact stripped a round out of the magazine. I can visually at a glance, or tactilely , say at night in the dark, immediately verify my weapons condition.

Saves me from doing a press check and possibly causing a malfunction like slide not going back fully into battery, etc.

But, to each their own.

What gun, most are easily and safely removed.

I prefer to just always just manually verify the condition after having some LCIs not work properly. Kind of like how the blind spot detection indicators are great on modern car mirrors, but the sensors can break or malfunction and then you just blindly trust you’re good to merge or something without verifying over your shoulder. Both can lead to a very bad time …

Plus, I tend to black out the obnoxious white lettering on my guns with LCIs so it’s not even an option really for me to still see. Easier to just build in the habit of always checking for myself that way.

After removing it in my others guns (Echelon compacts and Derya DY9), I keep reading the PDP is a bit of work and it makes me leery about doing it.

I started shooting comps so the unload, show clear has an extra piece to it.

I feel like it's not a big deal for the local match stuff but it is annoying.

Easy answer is just shoot my Echelon compacts but I am really liking the full size PDP.

I'm gonna hem and haw about it for a while, I guess.

I removed it from every semi-auto pistol I ever bought.

Regarding LCI, I don’t mind it and even appreciate it on some of them but if it ever caused a hiccup, I wouldn’t hesitate to remove it.

I was cleaning the PDP and working a magazine in/out to watch the mag disconnect work...looking at it a little more "thoroughly" gives me a better feel for the removal. I'll go grab some PB blaster then wait for the block to get here...

it’s my mkiv supressor host. It’s out of state with my NFA stuff. It was my critter getter in rural TX for back yard pest control. Can I remove it, sure. Will I, no. I don’t F- with “safety” devices on my pistols, if they have something I can’t live with from the factory I just don’t buy them. I learned that I can not live with mag disconnects. They are dog 💩, even on rimfires as simple as the Ruger.
