Some history:I feel like this argument about a gun grab can go either way actually. If said attacker gets hold of your gun in a scuffle and theres one in the chamber and mag out, they can't shoot you with your own gun. I think (not 100% sure) that was the reasoning behind cali putting the MD in. I think an officer had his gun taken and shot with it. Still doesnt make sense since PD doesnt have Mag Disconnects.
Just my cents
I think it’s 2028 before micro stamping will impact the Roster. Buy while you can.The LCI and Mag Disconnect features were added to the roster requirements (along with microstamping) because the California government looked at us and basically said “because F- you, that’s why”. Paraphrasing, of course..
Microstamping will come back again in the next couple years, with the same reasoning.
Anyway, so far the mag disconnect hasn’t caused me any problems so I’m going to keep an eye on mine and see if it’s a durable system. Same with the LCI.
Hopefully there won't be in Roster in 2028I think it’s 2028 before micro stamping will impact the Roster. Buy while you can.
I agree, but my daughter is getting into guns and I just bought her a Bodyguard 2.0 CA (I have the off-roster version) and until she's comfortable I'm planning on leaving it in.I would never trust an LCI. I will always check visually. Don’t like them. Don’t have any.
doesn't that mean you didn't accept it?I have just accepted it. In the Sig P226 lineup, when Sig changed from the short to long extractor that forced Sig to put an LCI and mag disconnect on new P226 models shown in CA. I didn’t want that on my P226 so I just kept looking for a used one without. Wasn’t too hard to find and paid $600 for it and a local gun store.
There's only one way to check if it's clear and thats to look in the chamber. I think it's dangerous to look at an exterior feature to tell you if it's safe to dry fire a gun or not.I agree, but my daughter is getting into guns and I just bought her a Bodyguard 2.0 CA (I have the off-roster version) and until she's comfortable I'm planning on leaving it in.
Waddaya think?
I'm talking about the MD not the LCI. 1000% agree on press check, especially since I've almost pulled the trigger on a gun in my safe but caught myself. Sure enough there it was in the chamber! oh ok, the comment you replied to was about LCI, yeah the MD is fine in that circumstance, could still be used as a crutch hypothetically if someone learns that "guns don't fire without magazines" I guess but that's a stretch and I'm sure you are instilling better habits than thatI'm talking about the MD not the LCI. 1000% agree on press check, especially since I've almost pulled the trigger on a gun in my safe but caught myself. Am I imagining things, or did you include a thinly veiled 'Smut Peddlers' reference in this post? The LCI and Mag Disconnect features were added to the roster requirements (along with microstamping) because the California government looked at us and basically said “because F- you, that’s why”. That's why they didn't win two world wars. They did na-zi it comingI have several classic (Swiss-made) Sig P210s. They were built in the 50s and 60s, and are one of the "holy grail" pistols. They all have a mag disconnect. I leave it in, it doesn't get in the way, doesn't make the trigger worse, doesn't cause the mags to hang up (they are pretty hard to remove anyway, with a heel release).
The Swiss know what they're doing. Unlike many California gun people, who are driven by emotions.
Doesn't hurt to have the extra safety. Some guns have obnoxious LCI, I like how HK does it with a small red line of paint on the extractor on the P2sk, and walther has the pop up on top but it's small and I can't see it anyways with an optic behind itI agree, but my daughter is getting into guns and I just bought her a Bodyguard 2.0 CA (I have the off-roster version) and until she's comfortable I'm planning on leaving it in.

If you shoot competitions, it's almost required that you have it removed. Once you're done shooting a stage, you have to remove the mag, show a clear weapon, pull the trigger and then reholster. With the mag disconnect you have to remove the loaded mag first, then have an empty mag handy so you can reinsert it to pull the trigger for the RSO. It's a huge pain the ass. If you're just a weekend warrior at the range or keep it for self defense, then it's fine to leave stock. He wants to shoot it in comps, so it makes it really cumbersome.Sometimes it's ok to leave it as is. Oftentimes people are just looking to spend money. Stock IS ok.
Edit: just referring to the trigger
No intention on any “smut peddler” reference. Not sure what you’re seeing, please explain.Am I imagining things, or did you include a thinly veiled 'Smut Peddlers' reference in this post?
Ah, my bad. One of their songs is called: "F-ck you, that's why".No intention on any “smut peddler” reference. Not sure what you’re seeing, please explain.
lol, I forgot about the band, I was thinking it came across as a character slur towards the CA Gov.Ah, my bad. One of their songs is called: "F-ck you, that's why".
All good. Kind of an obscure band, which would have made the song reference also obscure. I'm always on the look out for old school punks.lol, I forgot about the band, I was thinking it came across as a character slur towards the CA Gov.
