More Ammo Price Increases Coming

So prior to the start of the online ammo sales law, i started stocking up on 9mm ammo specially when there was a sale or rebate.

Ended up acquiring quite a stash for matches. During the pandemic, a lot of shooters started to drop off due to 9mm ammo shortages and it costing $35 to $50 per box of 50 rounds, I was still shooting matches with my $9-$10 boxes of 9mm ammo. I don't want to end up in the same situation as those shooters so I stock up when able.

Ammo prices have steadily gone up this year, about $4/box more compared to the start of the year prices and still rising. Now the focus is acquiring more reloading components and start reloading.

I've raced across the USA and in Mexico but down in socal Buttonwillow and Chuckwalla are where I've raced mainly, and I did a 24 hour at Willow Springs once. Def do a trackday since you have a R6

yea its a little tough logistically as I don't have the suit , the tow and car, and the wrenchs etc lol. I have considered champ school but for 3g's before rental ... wow

yeah they're super expensive.

Someone will pick you up and take you, trust me. Join the track riding groups on FB or hmu the network is strong. Lots of people with money and vehicles that will help you

I avoid steel cased ammo, i don't mind aluminum cased 9mm through some pistols though.

Mostly shoot Blazer Brass or New Republic USA 124 gr for matches. It has gone up from $0.21 in Jan to $0.275 per round in May.

I’m not sure what the difference is. Brass obviously you can reload but idk how to do that. I tested my Sig m400 by shooting 2,000 rounds of wolf steel .223 without cleaning and it functioned well. Usually I get brass though unless it’s really cheap

if it cant run while being a little dirty i dont want it, its like a burger. If it doesnt get all over the place it doesnt belong in your face

Many ranges don't allow steel cased ammo. Brass has the best expansion and therefore can be cleaner and maintains the better seal in the chamber, followed by aluminum and then steel.

Brass is really the only one you can reload, but as you mentioned it's a non-factor for you.

Steel can be cheaper for sure, but also wears parts on your gun faster. Nothing that can't be replaced though and you probably can easily shoot enough steel to save money for new parts.

Just the DOJ, giving them more proof to pursue a case. I understand that not everyone belongs to a club and is connected to an actual ( non virtual/ non imaginary) community where you can get solid advice from people you actually know and develop trust with vs online posters.

I always assumed as much too but realized our range doesn't sell any reloads, so maybe they just sell the brass?

or just reload for personal use? hard to say but bulk selling brass could be a thing too

Some outdoor ranges do not allow steel cased ammo because some use bimetal jackets. It has caused fires in outdoor ranges.

I'm gonna check with the ranges I go to if aluminum is OK since I know some can be picky about ammo types. If so I may give it a try when I run through my 9mm stash since the MP isn't all that picky.
