This site isn't about the 1st Amendment though. I consider it a professional courtesy, its just the things I'm used to. I'm not used to running anything with people saying whatever they want and people getting into pissing matches. This is very different for me.

I've seen a lot of people constantly mention the 1st Amendment, is that supposed to extend into private business?

We really try not to over moderate but we also don't want to go beyond the scope of the site. Let me ask you, what's the best way to accomplish that if you had an idea and other's told you 1st amendment says I have the right to say what I want. Honestly looking for other perspectives.

Many ardent 2A supporters view the 1st and 2nd Amendments as fundamentally intertwined, so you can't really tread on one without treading on the other. That said, it is a private site after all, and anyone who respects the spirit of the Constitution will also respect the concept of freedom of association too. For now I think the profanity filter option is the perfect go-between. It gives unrestricted speech to those who want it, and a more sanitized version for those who don't. Beyond that I say let everyone do as they will, and only step in if/when a thread starts to completely derail from an argument. Have been in a few forums over the years that ran themselves pretty well that way.

moderate within reason, dont sanitize everything

look im not trynna be a head, i like the work you do and not trynna make it sound like its the end of the world. it aint personal. i been on both sides as the moderator of other forums, and just a user, so i know how it is. might be time to put out some mod applications though as the userbase grows.

I didn't think it was. Those badges by your name tell me you have skin in the game. I am keeping an eye out for mods as we will need them. The site has grown pretty fast and my time is split elsewhere.

I put out my reasoning so you guys can understand my perspective and/or ignorance. I ask the community for feedback for guidance but I know I'll have to make some tough decisions and hope I earn the respect of some of you trying to do the right thing. I might need it for some of those times.

No hard feelings, just dudes talking. And as I always try to invite folks out to the range to squad sometime and maybe grab a after. Trust me when I say, you guys are helping me shape the site.

Buddy, at worst we're having a simple difference of opinions with some sarcastic bantz tossed in. I don't mean this to insult you, but you really do need to grow some thicker skin. If you want a sanitized bubble room where everyone is gonna lick each other's ass and never fight about anything, then you're in the wrong place.

Whether you believe it or not, I don't want to fight and would prefer to get along, but let's not pretend you don't know what you're doing either. I think so too. People like having choices, and this gives everyone the best of both worlds. We can all participate to our personal preferences without feeling as if we're missing out on anything, or having to tolerate content we don't like.

. Someone of you guys are funny. I'm in my 20s and hear boomers complain about the "new generation" and such.......but I'm genuinely shocked to see the reaction of the "men" here. I haven't "fallen to pieces", that is an obvious straw man fallacy. You have insulted me 7 times in this thread counting this last post of yours. It's a clear insult. If you go all the way back to my post that you quoted first, you will see that I expressed a view that this thread about cursing was really about finding a way to name-call, which is a type of insult. Somehow you felt threatened by my post. So much for being "thick-skinned". I've observed that those who pound their chests and accuse others of being "thinned-skinned" are in reality, the thinnest-skinned of all.
