Feedback Report (Narc) on a Flaker/Ghoster

I think as the moderator, you should stay out of it and not get in the middle of a dispute between buyers and sellers. This isn’t eBay. I think you should consider a review process similar to OfferUp. When a seller marks an item as sold, an instant request for a review pops up, allowing the buyer and seller to leave a star rating. That would be a much better way to handle these situations and give users a way to hold each other accountable. If the item doesn’t sell because of lack of communication , or a no-show, maybe the same rating system can be applied. This could be accessed if the seller or buyer chooses “ sold pending funds” before the meet up. If it doesn’t work out, then the seller or buyer will unselect SPF, the same rating system will pop up asking as to why it didn’t work out. Both the seller and the buyer can say the good, bad, and the ugly if they choose to. Just my $.02.
I like it, but I don't see a way for those to work on an ad with multiple items. Of course, I haven't finished my coffee yet, so I'm probably not seeing the forest for the trees.

I'm particularly sensitive to the "ghosting" issue. Many people nowadays seem to embrace this style of communication. I don't dig it, and I choose not to do business with these folks. Giving them their own badge would help the rest of us decide how we're going to deal with them.
I like this idea

On eBay and other similar sites, the transaction happens in house so this review system can be done with the transaction. There are no transactions happening through this site to initiate the review. That sounds to me like it would require a complete rebuild of the classified. It may even run into legal issues where transactions would “appear” to be happening through this site like GunBroker etc.

I agree. This is why I suggest a system similar to OfferUp. I believe they do not get in the middle of disputes because all transactions occur outside the site. Just spitballing here.

I think my new friend, that I caught last night, would love to leave me a negative review before he goes into my morning omelette.

My wife and i were not tracking the season opening and we left our nets at home when we went to SD for the weekend. There's not much room to keep them in our place down there, but they'll be coming back with us in two weeks though. Fingers crossed, haha.

To be clear, we’re still not involved in your transaction. We’re providing tools for you to rate each others with standard rules. We don’t charge for the feature it’s still free.

The only thing this tool does is help say how you interacted with the member in the platform. It doesn’t matter what it is. We don’t have the budget of the big sites, so we keep it simple.

Before we get to this, I’ll be updating the badge system and cleaning it up and adding some new ones.

This is in the idea phase. I would like to add the agent in there but that may or may not be realistic.

It might just be something even simpler. Like,

Click the button to agree and switch the item to pending. They’ll have a cancel window. Just trying to think of a way to get people to flake less and improve our community behavior gently.

I think this could be great for flakes. Ghosting and backing out might get real touchy real fast. Especially ghosting, yeah it’s annoying but I don’t think it’s scarlet letter worthy. Some people just stop talking and it is what it is.
Not if they've committed to the deal. The seller is refusing other potential buyers based on that CAGunner's word. If their word is for crap, it is good that the community know.

Ghosting doesn't bother me. I just move on. It is a form of communication today whether I like it or not.

If we have agreed on a deal and you are a no call and/or no show then you deserve negative feedback.

That is why I said 2/3 are the same thing. Ghosting after committing is the same as backing out. Both ways they didn’t hold up there end of the deal. I don’t care if they didn’t respond or just said, nah after they agreed. I didn’t sell or was unable to buy the item. Same badge don’t need two different ones.

That being said if your negotiating and the other party just stop responding that shouldn’t have any negative badges.

This. Kids (under 30’s) are F-ing weird and ghosting or blank staring before just walking off is how they deal with 💩. I had many younger employees that just did that when customers would get abuse, rude, loud, etc. It is how an entire generation deals with negative interactions/feelings now. Stupid, yup, to late for a small gun board to correct, also yup.

"Committed" should mean there's an agreed price and meet up time and place. Negotiating isn't committing. Even if price/time/place is agreed upon, buyer can still back out with sufficient notice.

Instead of labeling the Gen Z's with the disparaging label that is likely to send them spiraling even deeper into their psychoses, why don't we create a label for the old guys on the marketplace? It could be a Boomer Badge, for curmudgeons who insist on promptness, face-to-face dialogue, and complete sentences.

There’s always someone who’s gonna get offended. I’ve been doing this long enough now to know I can make about 60% of you happy. 40% will always be upset and outraged, and about 5% will just always never be happy.

I’m hoping we can change some things in our little niche. Can’t do it in the grand scheme, but at least we can set the rules and enforce them here. Since we are our own little club

Where do I get mine?

My oldest is okay, he translates for me. One of his friends though talks a mile a minute and I catch every 3rd word. But they are good kids. Hell mines a firefighter.

I'm never happy. But that has nothing to do with this site. 😬

Can I be mad all the time, but not really? I’ll take that badge.

I think he was describing something that really happens a lot with Gen-Z, which in my eyes isn't disparaging so much as a noticeable pattern.

it's just a discussion.. I'm rolling out other things first..
Is there any way to penalize sellers whose photos don't match the actual item? Some people upload pictures of a gun when it's new, then go on to fire hundreds or even thousands of rounds through it.
