Also, 7-8” is going to dramatically hurt performance at range. May as well get a PDW chassis at that point. I wouldn’t go shorter than 12.5 on a rifle of any kind. You lose a lot of stability at those really short lengths.

I was doing room cleaning in CQB course with 16” and had no issues with maneuverability or speed compared to folks with the SBR’s.

Still I’d optimize to eliminate threats at distance, first.

Probably AR10, since it's 5 AR's less scary than the AR15. LPVO EOTech, 1-10x and the trusty ol G34 on the hip.

Could also go For SOCOM 16 and a 1911

Or a good ol DD MK18, T1/T2 and Sand Viper

Want to go budget? SU16 & G19

Nothing wrong with a Good ole Mini 14, or AK either.

Up close & personal? Saiga 12 or Mossberg 940 all depending how you like to reload.

Super budget? 10/22 & Ruger MKIV .

Want to make em wonder what hit em without looking like you're carrying a big stick? .458 SOCOM

Gotta have the flexibility. Don't forget nods & plate carrier outfitted how you like.

My rifle is my primary weapon and what I’m optimizing for; CQB out to 200yds. I’d only transition to pistol when absolutely necessary so I’m less worried about carrying the same ammo.

While pistol ammo is plentiful, if you have to repair, AR-15 parts will be more standard than PCC if you have to scavenge.

And still, terminal ballistics, accuracy, wind resistance…of 5.56 are going to be far superior even within 100yds so I’m still getting more bang for my buck, literally.

100% agree, but with my injuries I need the lightest set up possible. There will be times I would have to use my cane to walk/stand so transitioning to a duty pistol one handed would be a must. The PCC AR Pistol would be more when I’m hunkered down and immobile. That to me is why ammo weight/ interchangeable is important with my limitations. Also why I do not bother with body armor, etc. couldn’t bare the weight and discomfort it causes my injuries.

I have to be realistic in these scenarios as I am mobility, strength limited with all my injuries.

7-8” for 9mm is the sweet spot, was not talking about 5.56. I need the small size and weight reduction. See previous post.
