WTF happened?

What else could it be besides the optic hitting concrete? The slide is still intact. The optic is flat from hitting something flat and hard
Im thinking everything happens as above and when OP recovers optic with cracked glass and scuffed housing he finishes it off by other means. I dont think the hood shears off from being slung forward on the slide onto concrete.

Ok I can go with this if the lci is also secured by optic with no other means of retention BUT airsoft or not looks like he stomped that optic.

I almost wanna buy one and throw it onto the concrete as hard as I can to see what would actually happen.
Film it.

Where shooting steel at close range? I have had ricochet bullets coming back hard. I have seen ricochets lodged in a persons neck. If nothing else is making sense, maybe bullet fragments flying back at you are the root cause. I always have shrapnel in the back of my truck after range trips. If shooting paper, I have no concrete advice to give.

Best theory posted here yet. We need to confirm it was steel targets, but look at the "injury" closely, the spot the arrow is pointing to, is is wiped lead, look at the cut on the base (oval red), that could be a bullet hit. When a FMJ bullet hits steel, the jacket usually disintegrates and just lead is left. The OP had a pic of the bullets in his mag. I believe he said a piece hit his glasses too. If this is the case, God loves him.

If this is what happened, then poor quality, good quality, grade 8 screws etc. make no difference.

bad sight copy.webp

I like my 50/50 bullet theory better

Yeah the Chinese mystery airsoft optic explains it all, and cheap screws backed out or sheared. In the pic I don't see any screw left inside the threads so it looks like the screws flew out. Mystery solved, buy quality products for a life and death item like a firearm. You can get away with a cheap scope on a .22lr for plinking but not a handgun

This thread would have been way shorter from the start if we knew it was a cheap china optic like that

So took my X Macro to the range in Sac today and the dot sheared off and ripped itself apart! Range master and a few others could not make sense of it. Range master 3 10rnd mags prior. Last mag, when this happened, I was double tapping & this 💩 happened. Any ideas? Definitely taking it to my local gunsmith but im lost as to how!!
Double tapping? What's that? We don't have that luxury in the Bay. We can shoot 1 round per 10 minutes. CVLIFE really shouldn't be trusted. Osight at bare minimum.

It does not look like a holosun, but it is pretty trashed. It may have a green emitter too, I could see a faint green glow from the emitter hole. Lots of unknowns here.
