Not just now, but also back in the past few pandemic and/or panic buy periods too.

Remember $900-$1500 Gen 3 Glock 19s with no Glock ban in place? There were other guns avaiable, but people just fell squarely in one of those two categories.

So are you referring to a mag disconnect which has no effect on a pistol firing, no more that a broken firing pin.

Well, that could be a consideration for some. More notably the externally safeties that do not exist on Glocks or off roster M&Ps. I am not a fan of the large external safeties.

Buying an item at a premium because it's hard to find is a-ok if you can afford it.

As I get older (35 years old) I'm learning any problem you can solve with money isn't really a problem.

I don't have unlimited money and I'm not willing to pay 1600$ for an off roster Glock, but I'm also not willing to move to a different state so I can buy a pistol.

I see news stories about a big snow storm about to hit most of the country and I sit back and think to myself "I'd rather be poor in California than rich in Ohio"

Lol even the weather sucks here now. It’s the same thing 364 days a year, we have no variation, and I’m tired of it. And no this is not sarcasm, I’m dead serious. I’d rather be in almost any other state (with exceptions like Illinois, Minnesota, NY , etc)

Exactly! I never understood why grown men feel the need to tell other grown men how much they should pay for things. It’s not like when you die you get an award for “the best prices paid for things” Lol

Heck I have 3 VP9s that I paid STUPID high prices for way back before they were on roster. I wanted them so I bought them. I did not get swindled. If I sell them today it will be a half the price I paid because of supply and demand.

Maybe we should have the Government regulate prices on handguns

You've established that Glocks are the most popular guns on Earth. That makes Glocks more akin to the ultra-reliable Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic, not the explodey Pinto.

If someone is buying something by choice, they're by-definition NOT being swindled. A swindle (like a con) necessarily involves deception. Also, if off-roster Glocks aren't a swindle, then this logic applies to all off-roster guns. The value proposition relates to supply and demand, and off-roster guns often have much less supply than demand, hence the higher cost.

I consciously overpaid for every PPT gun I bought, but I was not swindled. You gotta pay to play in California if you want off-roster hotness. I can make more money, but I can't make a CZ TS2 go on-roster. I also can't move to a free state...yet. With sufficient funds, one can create what is effectively a free state simulator, but for the mags and 10-day wait period.

It’s the same price as an off roster Glock, but people would rather show and tell then have skills and do drills. Hopefully that paradigm will change.

I bought and sold several beautiful off-roster guns and have no regrets. Curiosity, sated! With a desirable gun you can always resell it and in most cases you couldn't rent these rare beauties.

Either one accepts not knowing or one gets to really try them out as an owner, keeping in mind low round count for resale.

I even bought and sold a high-dollar Atlas Erebus. No regrets.

As much as I love the Shadow 2 and S2C, the TS2 did it for me. Amazingly flat/soft shooter and I am more accurate with it than my Cajunized SP-01. I liked the base model almost as much as my TS2 Orange.

I also really enjoyed learning the PPT process as buyer and seller.

Good points for sure! Rotation is a good thing. And some guns are just art pieces or I love them. I think the gun hobby is full of members that promote "buy, never sell, always more", much to the joy of the manufacturers no doubt.

But people can participate in a hobby however they want.

I never understood the "buy never sell" thing for any hobby. My story is a bit different then most gun owners I think. I bought my first firearm at 48yrs old. Never saw a gun in person let alone held one up to then. Since then (now 63) I've bought and sold dozens and dozens of rifles and handguns. I thought I wanted 1911's bought a couple and sold them both. Thought I was into CZs, bought a couple and sold both. Thought I was into .22lr rifles, bought a few and sold them all. Thought I would never own a Glock, now I've got a safe full of them.

I like the Gun Hobby as both a tool for survival/protection needs, AND as a hobby to explore new and interesting options. I never think of this as a money maker, because like most hobbies it's neve gone to be that. Lol

I’ve gone through this. Esp the thinking Id never own glock and now it’s primarily what i have and practice with. Can’t think of anything I regret selling.

I got my first at 56 and I took a basic gun safety course before joining the private range I'm at now. Well, the range insisted I take a course before joining and I was happy to do it. We don't know what we don't know, and I like learning.

I enjoy trying out different guns. I don't believe there's a good reason (by my estimation) not to sell those which don't spark joy, don't fit well, have become redundant, or something else. Ultimately, I want to become as good as possible when it comes to target shooting and the gun definitely makes a difference, not just for its outright performance but also shooter comfort and preference.

Same with other sports where "equivalent" tools may be perceived differently by the user—be it a snowboard, tennis racquet, surfboard, etc. Without trying a plurality of tools, one is stuck with whatever one bought first—theoretically with the least amount of practical, first-principles knowledge.

As with anything, great tools set one up for success. The rest is up to us and our study and training. Conversely, tools which fight us or don't fit our biomechanics or preferences can throw us off of an edifying lifetime hobby prematurely.

People need to go back to evaluating the actual worth and value of a product or commodity. Unfortunately, what with the modern crypto mindset it would appear that economic discernment has become a thing of the past.

That is not why you would move. You're moving to escape the California Nanny State that reaches into your pocket and takes what it wants. If you complain, you are an evil and deserve to lose everything.
