I really liked TGO when we were in TN. Did a few gun sales out there in the 4.5 years we were there. Since we moved back Calguns has been down and out lol.

I'm a member there Matt, it just has never had the same "vibe" to me that CG had when it was up and rocking. Yeah the marketplace there works for sure, but meh... I can buy locally out of the local want ads so it's not quite the advantage someone from California might think on the surface. I live near Bristol, I'm not driving to Nashville for a PPT any more than someone from LA wants to drive to San Jose.
 
Things are slightly better at CGN just now.

Earlier, got a gateway timeout before logging in. Now, can post without getting a timeout, use the 'back button' successfully, read with reasonable page load times.

No guarantee this will continue, of course, but nice to see.

It is better today.. I commend you and the others for your patience.. I was happy I got a response. Lol

Part of me, just wants to get access to fix the issues just because it’s been so long.

Sadly I think there’s less people than before. It can’t seem to top 210+ members

It is just not that hard to run a web forum. I do it for a living. Actually, I pay smart people to do that hard tech part for me. I moved my site from one technology to another 2 1/2 years ago. It was not exactly smooth but my site was not down for one single day. My forum was always there and always fast. I do not know the CalGuns guys but the site is horrible and it does not have to. Whatever they think they are doing they threw away a pretty easy business.

I am very happy to have found CAGuns.

Even the re-launch “Part Deux” is freakin horrible. Took over 1 minute to load a classified listing. Not to mention it completely timed out at 4am this morning!
 
I will say it again. It is not that hard.

I do not know the traffic numbers over there but they must have at one time made more than enough revenue to pay someone smart to fix it.

I had a Datsun 510, but the low-end Porsche of my early adulthood was the 914 - little mid-engined roller skate.

I was told the VW buses of that era used the same engine as the 914. No idea if that is accurate.

They used crappy motors in both if I recall, the 924 had a motor I want to say was around 100 hp, I forgot about the 914 with the Volkswagens motor, that was even worse and they would constantly break engine wise unless you drove them grandma style.
I had a few 510's, a factory sport 74 610 station wagon with the spoiler in the back that was pretty fun for road trips hauling my friends and later a 620 pickup I tricked out long before it became cool with air dam's with the hook rims and fat tires, I put a low profile camper shell on it that had overhead cabinets and made it into a mini living space with dual batteries and a small inverter. It had a 120 plug in the back that would run solely off the 2nd oversized battery that I could switch over in the cab to run the fan, lights & boombox, ply wooded the whole bed that had thick plush blood red carpet with padding. I also insulated between the plywood and the metal bed on the sides. It was like a small bedroom that the girls just loved lol. I also put in closing lock's on the inside where no one could open it from the outside (only took one incident to make that correction lol).

Hey ACFixer,

I remember you. You gave me advice on my HVAC in a thread once. It was great advice.

That’s what I’ll miss about CalGuns. Was a lot of good guys with lots of knowledge willing to share there.

Not just about guns, but all sorts of useful things in life.
 
Ive been around another forum when they made a big switch/ upgrade (sig talk) and it was managed really well.

There comes a point where you have to make a decision and get with the times and upgrade. Will you lose some of the old junk possibly but if you can modernize and keep the info which is what is important for CGN then you gotta do it.

I posted this this morning when I finally go on CG.

There are currently 4045 users online. 48 members and 3997 guests.
Most users ever online was 23,142 at 2:45 AM on 09-07-2024.

The current time is 0313hrs 09/07/24. That is today!

That's this AM. I signed on at 0300 and I doubt if there were 23,142 persons on line and dropped to 4045 total in just a few minutes.

Something just doesn't jive. Out of my camp no idea what is the cause but that's dang near impossible when a couple of days ago it was 17,xxx for a long time, then over night BOOM, an explosion of guests.
