Unfortunately yes. Personally I think it's a total dirtbag thing to do. They ain't doing it because they feel bad normal citizens can't get off roster stuff, they are doing it because it's easy money and they can rip people off. There's quite a few on here selling their unfired $600 Gen6 Glock for $1800. In my opinion, if we have to follow the roster, they should too, especially since it's existence is to prevent the sale of "unsafe handguns". We wouldn't want our police using anything unsafe, right?

Lol, people talking about it on a forum ain't what will get that "loophole" closed. What will get it closed are cops bringing in and reselling a bunch of off roster guns to supplement their income. There's a reason DOJ has a team that monitors off roster PPTs, it's already a big problem that they are paying attention to. Realistically they are probably already thinking up some way to stop it.

Very overrated. They have barely improved from the 90’s while companies like Sig, HK, CZ, Walther, S&W, Staccato have left them in the dust. That’s why they’re starting to lose contracts. Other polymer guns are just as reliable with better features and qualities these days. It’s ok for a gun that goes boom for $500 but it’s nothing special anymore.

Prices are what they are, the inevitable result of supply (or lack thereof) and demand courtesy of the CA roster. Blame Sacramento. The irony is that the current high prices, 11% sin tax on retail sales, and absurdly over-complex regulations most penalize the same low to moderate income constituency that some of these legislators claim to support.

I choose not to pay current Glock/CZ CA prices, this from someone who owns mostly HK. Others may not be bothered by it, and I too did crazy things before retirement.

I still have a couple of legacy Glocks but don't use them much anymore. My beefs again are largely CA-specific: never having access to on-roster gen 5 variants and their allegedly improved accuracy; and the until recently questionable reliability of 10-round Glock magazines with JHP (the orange follower gen 5 versions may finally be reliable, but I don't have enough rounds through them to fully trust yet; thus only the G26 was ever carried). No major complaints on CZ other than mostly being off-roster, although working on the 75BD that I had years ago required the hammer of Thor, simple things like replacing a barrel bushing required some muscle.

If/when we get an on-roster gen 6, I may, possibly, reconsider the above.

The low to low middle class and lower IQ people that vote blue for those types of politicians don’t own guns or want them. They expect the police and government to protect them and think guns are scary and bad. Most CCW holders are going to be higher tax bracket higher iq here on average

True. That’s why they added the questions to the DROS now about whether the gun is off roster and if the seller is exempt or not

I believe he was implying that if you don't wanna spend 3x MSRP on a pistol, it's because you're "too poor". Because otherwise why would you not voluntarily get ripped off?

Yeah but in the context of the thread it’s not even clear who he was attempting at belittling. Is it people who like cheap plastic Glocks? Or is he a Glock fan chastising people who don’t want to spend 3x msrp for a used one?

It is true that it hasn't changed much but still does what it's supposed to do. I get the fanbois ranting about it is annoying but there being an equal or better option doesn't really take away from what Glocks are IMO. Now would I pay the CA premium over a Sig/HK/SA etc? Hell no! Lol

Recently picked up my first Shadow 2.

I do pretty good with my striker fired pistols and my Prodigy 5” but holy crap! I just didn’t think any single pistol would be such a dramatic improvement to my shooting.

It’s stock (with irons, for now) but now I’m trying to figure out what I need to work on to shoot every platform just as good.

I don’t think you get the simplicity of Glocks. They are the Honda civic or Toyota Tacoma. You can drive a Porsche or Tesla or whatever you like.

I always go back to Glock. I like having something like that in the stable but I also like the nice 2011’s. CCW if I were to do it I’d stick with Glock personally not the others but after shooting th DWX, I would get one. For the $$ it’s better than the Walther PDP SF / Canik SF.

Glock isn’t supposed to be exciting or fancy. But it is supposed to be durable and reliable. I don’t need more whiz bang. I just need 100% bang.

Are Glocks overpriced in California? Yes. Everything here is more expensive. Off rosters are priced high, but not always sold at that price. Even when they are, clearly the demand is there.

Being irritated that Glocks are insanely popular than your favorite brand is silly. The problem with Glocks is that there’s nothing actually wrong with them. Just personal preferences.

In my experience, the more someone shoots handguns, the more they appreciate Glocks. You don’t have to like them. But they aren’t overrated.
