We make it a point to be excellent when dealing with PPTs. You hate them, we hate them, we all hate them but we all have to do them. The goal is SPEED! In, out, mayyyybe try to sell you some ammo in the processIn my experience, 2A Zone Riverside is still top notch when it comes to PPTs for speed, cost, and accuracy.
Could you let me know what shop? Just so i know not to bother buying anything from them or even visiting their shop, ever. PM would be fine too. Thanks.I just did a PPT last week at a local FFL in the Bay Area. I was the seller, but I was shocked when the FFL presented the buyer with the total due for the PPT; $100 even...
I guess they have to keep the lights on now that the 11% tax is carving away at their sales...
Can’t you avoid the lock issue if you tell them about your CA approved gun safe? That has worked for me a couple of times.Keep your receipt on the lock that they force you to buy and return the lock after you pickup.

I just payed $47 and $10 for a lock from Addax tacticalCheck my latest posts activity.
I wouldn't go as far as to not doing any business with that particular FFL - there aren't many FFLs left in the Bay Area (especially those that openly take PPTs and not have weird rules like you must come in within the first hour of business or 3-5p on a Wednesday), but I'll leave them on my list of "unpreferred FFLs"....
I’ve purchased two handguns over the last six months at two different FFLs and no cable lock required for either. For long guns, a safe affidavit works.
Handguns are different.
If they came with the factory lock, that's also acceptable.I’ve purchased two handguns over the last six months at two different FFLs and no cable lock required for either.
I stand corrected. You are right. A new federal law mandates cable locks for handguns. Here is a quote from Turner’s Outdoors. For long guns, a safe affidavit works.
Handguns are different.
However Federal law, which went into effect after the passage of CA law, mandates that a trigger lock accompany any handgun transfer without consideration of CA law. Effectively this means that safe affidavits are no longer acceptable for handgun transfers.
I guess I slipped through the cracks ...This has been in effect for like 20 years.
It's not brand new.
