FN Five-seveN. Found one in ODG (my favorite). Even got a 5.7 AR upper that took FN90 mags to go with it.

I couldn’t hit the side of a barn from the inside with that damn pistol, haha!! Sold it right after the range day.

I hated my XD9. Way too small for my big hands. It was all that was available at the time (during the george floyd riots). Finally got my SS P226.25 with is perfect for me. The XD sits in my cabinet freshly cleaned and ready for a new owner

PSL Paratrooper. Outside of a lot of fun noise - that was a crap that could not feed, ruined cases ( I don't reload, but on principal ) and was very liberal with where bullet ends up

I really really wanted a SA-35. Finally got one and I was underwhelmed. I had a vision of it being a bad ass retro cold war 9mm SAO masterpiece. I had one range day with it and had post nut clarity. It was not what I had hyped up in my mind at all. Not a bad gun by any means, it just was so much cooler/better in my head, than in my hand.

Shadow systems 920 honestly not worth the hype period. You can buy timney trigger, and a steel guidrod put it in your stock g19 or g17 and it feels the same.

I almost bought a P22 but I asked the store clerk to field strip it and neither he or I could reassemble it; I passed.

Try the P365 in 380, it’s like a different gun.

I’ve been looking at a G20/29 for my woods gun. I’m disappointed to read about the reliability issues you’re having.

Don’t let his anecdotal experience discourage you. I have both and have zero issues.

two Kimber 1911s, a full-size and an Ultra-carry, and they were both damn fine pistols right out of the box with hundreds of rounds and zero jams.

Sigh. I admit that I still have an Ultra-Carry in the safe--and it's been reliable. Maybe I should get over my bitterness and shoot it a little more. I'm picking up an unfired 44 year old 1911 tomorrow, so maybe I'll soon have a .45 only day at the range.

I have couple Kimbers one from 2013 no problem whatsoever. One Ultra CDP II form 2022 always FTF every 3 or 4th mag using wilson combat mags tried different factory ammo still the same. It is the most beautiful 1911 in my mind anyway..I just dont shoot it no more....

If the FTF is always on the very first round from a specific magazine, then you are likely over-loading that magazine.
Reduce the round count by one round and see if the problem goes away.
If you have not already done so, number your magazines so if you ever have a problem, you can check what number mag it is to see if the problem follows a specific mag or not.

S&W 986 (short barrel model). Can't hit a damn thing with it, and 9mm out of a revolver was surprisingly harsh until I changed out the stock grips for Hogue overmolded tamers.

USFA Zip Gun. Definitely a head turner, but when you went to use it, it was more like a head scratcher! Minor issues, such as it jams every other round! There's no ejector, and is relying on sheer inertia! It uses 10/22 magazines, but can't use pre-ban ones for some reason. I was happy to take a loss on it.

Yes, first was a Glock 34 when I was actively shooting 3 gun, everyone local at the time was using them. Never got along with the Glock platform, proceeded to drop a bunch of money into it trying to make it better and sold it real quick. Next was a Shadow 2, I’ve been a huge CZ fan and love my SP01’s and Bull Shadows but never really liked how the S2 felt in hand, ended up selling it and buying another Bull Shadow.

Agreed. My brother owned one and lots of people love them, but for me the location of the decocking lever is difficult to reach, unlike with the safety on a 1911.

p365: everything seemed amazing about it on paper. Most popular selling gun in America, it was acclaimed.

I tried a couple hundred rounds at the range and hated how the subcompact p365 handled in my hands. Slim form factor made it feel unwieldy. As a point of reference, g19.3 finger grooves fit me perfectly and I even prefer my gen3 over my g19.5

Yeah that controls are awkward. But I also have the PX4 Storm and love it, one of the most accurate pistols I own and great to shoot, it also has a slide-mounted decoc ker. Much better grip angle, for me at least.

Yes. Bought a Glock 48 but when I shot it I was surprised at how it seemed to slip in my hand. It was just less impressive than I was expecting buy maybe some grips will help.

Grips helped. It's a pretty great thing.

Tried a Hogue Handall grip sleeve? Made a huge difference for me.

I have numbered all 5 of my wilson combat mags, both 7 rounders and 8 rounders... and 2 kimber pro mags...also tried no name generic 1911 mags still some FTF mid into the mag.......It most likely required a factory rework but I'm too lazy and don't want to ship it back and forth...

FTF is very generic and does not describe an exact stoppage other than that there WAS a stoppage.
What is the exact stoppage you are getting?

A cartridge feeding into a chamber on a 1911 stops or changes angles 4 times in the feed cycle.
1st stop is the bullet into the feedramp as the bullet is pushed forward in the magazine.
2nd stop is when the bullet has angled up before the cartridge is released from the magazine lips.
3rd stop is when the base of the cartridge has released from the magazine lips and is pushed up by the cartridge or follower underneath it until it's fully engaging the extractor.
4th stop is when the cartridge is fully into the chamber and the case stops against the forward edge of the chamber.
