I got a Walther P22 in FDE that was a piece of junk. Failed in every way you can think of. It got to the point where I was surprised that it went off when I pulled the trigger. I should have just gotten a Mark IV, S&W Victory, or Buckmark from the get go.

Total garbage.

Yes. I really wanted a Ruger LCP 2 in 22lr.
Was just really into the look and size of it.
Got it and it was very unreliable. Failures to eject, failures to load, light primer strikes and slide staying locked back with ammo still in mag.
I sent it to Ruger and they changed out the whole slide.
Was able to fire 19/20 cci standard velocity and 18/20 federal punch.
Im happy with that now.

Funny story when I went to go meet the buyer. I ran into a woman leo who was trying to sell a legion 226 sao and 220 duty carry weapon. Chatted for a minute and made a smoking deal and got those and sold the mosquito to the other buyer and I was sooooo happy.

My first pistol. As a kid I would run to the counter At turners when my dad was looking at fishing gear to look at the ruger p90. I thought it was the coolest looking gun ever. Reality sunk in immediately after I got when I took it home years later when I was old enough to buy one.

A long time ago I bought an early S&W model 59. DA trigger was really heavy, SA was really light. In those days no one was smithing on those, and I was young, so I sold it. The quality of 9mm fodder back then was also really poor compared to current stuff. I also had one of the Taurus clones of a Beretta 92, and it was not accurate AT ALL. The barrel and chamber were awful.
Side note, lots of the earlier 9mm pistols back then had chambers and barrels with sizes all over the place. 9mm was not expected to be accurate. I think the High Power and CZ 75 changed the game for the 9mm for service pistol accuracy, especially the CZ. The Sig 210 was always more of a target pistol, and always expected to be accurate. CNC manufacturing also helped a LOT.

Yeah back in the day I bought a Springfield xd 9mm. The fit and finish was awesome but when I shot it I never could get a good grip on it. Ended up selling it.

Not me, but when a buddy of mine first got into guns, he bought two: an XD9 and Sig SP2022. He proceeds to tell me “they are Glock killers”
He traded in his SP2022 because it was so bad and unreliable (did not cycle most ammo)
He still has his XD9 and swears by it, but it’s the crappiest gun I’ve ever shot (next to the SP2022 and Ruger Max9) and the first time he shot my Glock, he said only better because “I have a lot of upgrades” but I only have upgraded the trigger to a timney with a ported slide and barrel… he has an aftermarket trigger for his XD9 from a no name company and it doesn’t even compare

So you "only" upgraded to a timney trigger AND PORTED SLIDE AND BARRELL? Dude you dont even have a glock anymore. Who are you trying to fool?

The exact opposite happened to me when I inherited my dad's little pearl-handled Raven .25. I didn't want it. I sat there and was like, "I couldn't trade this little Saturday Night Special POS for a sandwich if I tried let alone selling it... WTF is even this slide design?... .25 what a ridiculous caliber... Pretty sure this recoil spring is from a kids toy... There's no way this thing is even gonna cycle... This things gonna UD on me first chance it gets it's so flimsy, there's no way this thing is safe... WTF do I do with this thing?!..."

Took it to a range day after cleaning it up and we had so much fun shooting the lil bastard we had to buy two more boxes of ammo. Pretty sure it's still not even remotely close to drop safe (or safe in any other way for that matter) but I still put it on my carry roster for my pocket or ankle because I just enjoy that little thing so much.

I really really wanted a SA-35. Finally got one and I was underwhelmed. I had a vision of it being a bad ass retro cold war 9mm SAO masterpiece. I had one range day with it and had post nut clarity. It was not what I had hyped up in my mind at all. Not a bad gun by any means, it just was so much cooler/better in my head, than in my hand.

Yeah, I really liked the gun when it came out, but at the time I had never fired a Hi-Power. Eventually shot my buddy's and realized that I really don't care for the platform.

S&W 986 (short barrel model). Can't hit a damn thing with it, and 9mm out of a revolver was surprisingly harsh until I changed out the stock grips for Hogue overmolded tamers.

I was on a quest for a S&W 547. Finally landed one at a non-crazy price. It took exactly one cylinder to realize that I didn't enjoy shooting it. Despite it being somewhat rare, I happily sold it.

Yes. Bought a Glock 48 but when I shot it I was surprised at how it seemed to slip in my hand. It was just less impressive than I was expecting buy maybe some grips will help.

I'm feeling like this about Glock 45, although it doesn't slip through my hands it's just not that impressive.

Yeh, the aims surplus Glock 17 Leo trade in Gen 3. The pictures look nothing like what I went in for the incoming transfer. It was all worn in, frame had a bunch of wear, slide was worn, plastic Oem sights were dented. Still havnt even picked it up yet; I’m in the middle of the 10 days. It will be my first Glock 17; learned the Glock platform on the g19, g26, and g23. I knew I was going to purchase to make this a direct optic cut project or purchase glock gen 3 mos slide for optic. I guess the worn in frame would make it a great candidate for my first time experience of laser stippling……

Yes, I paid $1400 for a Kimber Tactical Custom II. The biggest piece of junk I ever owned. I sold it on Calguns for $800, because I knew whoever bought it was gonna have to put money into it. Will never buy a Kimber again.

S&W CSX - was in the store and it was there and grabbed it because it was brand new to the market and thought it looked good, such a waste.

And then the Keltec KSG - freaking John Wick unloading from the hood of the SUV got me all pumped for it, but man does that thing kick too hard, it's not enjoyable to shoot AT ALL!!! It's a fun novelty but I'm reaching for my M4 100% of the time over the KSG.

Yah, just sent a savage 212 12 gauge slug gun back to warranty today. Wouldn’t feed the sabot slugs for jack crap. I used 3 different brands of ammo, federal trophy copper, barnes vor-tx, and brennske.
I bought an extra magazine just in case because I read old forum posts of others having issues and that savage recommends Remington accupoint; but hunting in California requires lead free. Firearm internals was cleaned with hoppes #9 bore solvent, internals lubed with Lucas extreme duty oil for high temp resistance in semi autos, greased the bolt with hoppes black grease, and then worked the bolt about 100 times before going out to range for zeroing.

At the range, when I had those malfunctions, one out of two mags I was able to push up on the mag to feed out of the 2 round mag with federal trophy copper. The other one didn’t work. For the other loads I was not able to get it to feed even with the pushing up on the magazine method.

So, from slowly working the action and watching how the 3 different loads feed, I diagnosed that it’s either, mag doesn’t sit high enough for the feed ramp, or follower doesn’t push the rounds high enough to feed up the feed ramp, the next one is and/or that the feed ramp is not a straight up smooth up hill process for the slug since it has a resting point which could be a reason why it’s catching.

I even tried man handling the bolt by hitting like I was trying to hit it with a purse and the rounds wouldn’t even go in.

Anyways I wrote a 2 page letter to include with the gun on its way back to warranty and also included that I read that this was an issue for people ten years ago; I was thinking that they would have fixed the issue by now.

Needed a slug gun for draw hunts that are slug gun or archery only; maybe the compound would be more reliable in this scenario.

When you buy a car, you always take it for a test drive, but with firearms, you're lucky if the gun store lets you dry fire it. Sure I've had a few lemons, but I'm always jonesing for another fine firearm, even if I have to sort the wheat from the chaff.

Maybe it's a matter of different strokes for different folks, but I've owned two Kimbers and they were both rock solid. I don't like their magazines which tend to pinch my hand when I slam them in, but if I had been able to mount an optic on my Kimber Custom TLE/RL II, I'd still own it. Never had a jam or any other problem with it and even with only iron sights (which are a challenge for old eyes like mine) that 1911 trigger could put the bullets right where I aimed it.
