Is springfield Prodigy a keeper?

If your willing to work out the kinks ($$)and have a gunsmith in mind they can be great. I had one. Got it polished still jammed didn't like the expensive mags either decided to sell it and looks for a 2011 that takes glock mags.

What did you do to it that it ran that poorly. I have one that I installed EGW ignition kit for $120 and an atlast trigger for $60. It runs like a dream. I have run it in 2 or 3 competitions in LO and it runs great with Atlast and MBX mags as well as the factory mags.

The 2 that I have listed up for sale run great, but I did replace all the necessary parts and upgraded what I felt needed to be in order to make them better shooters. I used mine in several matches in LO last year and never had issues, only issues were user error.

I think yes it is a good gun if you put the upgrades in it but not everyone wants to buy a gun to then pay money to make it run when you can spend $500 on a glock that would almost never jam and you could trick it out for much if you wanted is all . Also after atlas mag the costs or staccato mags. I just went a different direction. I do like the one that take glock mags that is way more appling to me.

I agree but a glock is a piece of compared to a 2011. I have 4 and have upgraded the crap out of 2 of them. I spent more $ than I can count trying to make a glock feel better and it's not even close. The trigger upgrades available are great but only compared to stock crap glock trigger pull.

I have no issues with either of my 2011s and they are superior in every way feel and function to even my most Gucci glock. I only spent $200 in parts to have my prodigy run like a 4k+ 2011. I spent a lot more than that to trick a glock which I now regret since they never get used.

Not saying a glock doesnt have it's place in this world it is what it use for home defense but in a competitive environment no way in hell.

Sorry yours didnt work out for you, missing out. Also the 2011s that take glock mags i.e. platypus, HD and I forget the other one all dont feel lile a 2011 and have their own problems. I sold my staccato HD already bc I hated it and a friend of mine already ditched his platypus for a real 2011. There is a new one on the market which is complete crap to. My friend bought one to back up his Atlas and had several malfunctions in competition with it so is selling it.

I hear that. I used up about 2k rounds of 9mm trying to get a Jard trigger to work for my Ruger PC Carbine. After returning it twice and endless amounts of tweaking, in the end, it was never right and the trigger ended up going back to them for good. I should have cut my losses after a few hundred rounds.

I have thousands of rounds through a 4.25" prodigy that I shoot in uspsa. my $0.02 is it is a great entry level 2011.
Does it have mim parts? yes, does it have an amazing trigger? no.
If a staccato p was the same price I would take that over the prodigy.
Get what you can get or afford and blast away, I'm sure you will enjoy what ever you get yours hands on.

Yes, I have heard of Race city but nothing good, also nothing horrible. I just havent heard enough about them from anyone who uses it. There isn't a single person I know who uses one and I shoot matches from north of LA to SD and west to Nevada. So if they were that good I feel like I would have run I to someone who likes it enough to use in comp. So again have heard nothing good on the brand.

I would trust with either of my 2011's to my life. Both go bang all the time. My prodigy went bang all the time as well out of the box I just upgraded it for competion purposes to be similar to my gamer pistol.

My buddy still shoots his prodigy stock and has zero issues aside from the occasional stove pipe but that is user error with his grip getting too loose which will happen with any gun.

I've just not seen the problems everyone claims they have had with them personally.

Imo the staccato HD is not a 2011, it’s a series 80, so the trigger is nothing to compared to real 1911 / 2011. I suggest you aim for the C2, C or P on the forums if you’re gonna do Staccato.

have you looked at the fusion xp? still breaking mine in, for sub 2k and about 800rds in its been pretty decent. its not a staccato though but you also not paying staccato prices.

not much down range yet roughly 800~ rds or so. some FTF in the first couple 300 or so rds then i cleaned and lubed after that been pretty good. grip is a little too smooth but other that has been good. ran a mag dump out of a glock fun stick no problem

I vouch for the XP, although I did some work with mine. The slide felt gritty out the box, and it would sometimes hang on the disco on return to battery even though the slide has a somewhat marvel/ramp cut. A good rail polish and sear spring adjustment made it uber smooth. I haven't had any problems with it since, including with the ported barrel. Fusion Firearms has really good customer service too.

Yes I was hoping that the one i got wouldnt run into the problems everyone seems to have but for me that eas not the case. F. Into battery was the biggest. So i just cashed out on a ppt.

He's not impressed with anything. He is one of the most negative pros on YouTube. He hates half the he uses. He will on a holosun 507comp but then you see him using it. He's a funny dude and a great shooter but a pessimistic mofo
