My impression is there are a lot of shooters who jumped onto the 2011 train without researching the platform in the past few years. Under that assumption, the $199 /yr subscription-based warranty plan makes sense if you get a lot of customers who say like “I bought this gun second hand, will your warranty cover it” or “It’s been 10k rounds since I cleaned and lubed it and now the fit and finish aren’t as good anymore”.

I’m still scratching my head at the dealer restructuring. Willing to wait to see how this plays out

Correct. For some reason some people just can’t seem to wrap their head around the facts rather than speculation.

It’s a stupidly implemented business decision I disagree with but not sure it really needs or warrants people misrepresenting what it does and doesn’t mean. It’s pretty easy to go straight to the source for clarification if people cared enough.

That has always been the case in terms of PPT and consignment. CPO is exempt and offers the original warranty, but isn't currently a supported CA program AFAIK. Maybe they do it with CA models they receive, idk about that niche case.

Again, this is different than what you were originally claiming and closer to the actual state of things. Dealers have 180 days to sell new inventory they had in stock and it will still be treated as new during that timeframe and buyers will get their lifetime warranty.

Staccato care is separate and in addition should someone want that maintenance program for some reason.

But kinda makes you wonder how many rounds the parts on these guns are good for. And how Staccato defnes normal wear and tear under the care plan vs the warranty. In other words if a part fails under a specific round count they might say oh thats normal wear and tear and we can replace that part under the $200/year care plan. But since the part lasted x rounds before failure its not covered by our warranty. I think thats why people are seeing care plan as a way for Staccato to charge people for repair that should be covered by the warranty. Very few shooters will shoot their 2011s enough for it to honestly matter. One the legacy 2011 stuff the aftermarket is available/mature enough that you could source and do more of the easy spring replacements yourself with no experience. The HD stuff is a bit more dicey if you have a CA model or if they ask you to send it in to have the work done.

But, realistically, people shouldn't be running into any issues sub 10k rounds or so for anything more than basic springs and the odd small part here or there. I'd still field strip and clean every 1-2k rounds just to check for premature wearing or other visible issues, but that's just me. Plenty of guys that go 5k+ rounds with just lots of lube and a quick wipe down of the rails and such between real cleaning.

The percentage of shooters putting even 5k rounds on their Staccatos would probably be in the top 5-10% of their owners. Especially as a lot of them tend to be carry guns and people don't train as much with their carry guns usually (unless it pulls double duty or isn't a size compromise in some way).

One issue with the HDs is proprietary parts like the extractor that they don't sell separately. So anything besides springs you are sending it in

I've heard that they don't but maybe I'm wrong. But for instance they list the mag catch on their web store but not the extractor. If you could get the extractor I assume you could replace the lci version

This sounds far more believable than the unsubstantiated claims from Shooters Choice.

It's been my experience that those who disparage their competition as a means to gain advantage are not to be trusted. Those who choose to promote their own strengths as a means of differentiating themselves are far more believable.

Shooters Choice lost their valued contract with Staccato. Rather than taking the gentlemanly approach, perhaps trying to reestablish a relationship at a later date, they lashed out with crazy posts. This should serve as a warning to other manufacturers who are considering them as business partners, or even consumers thinking of spending a lot of money.

I had heard and seen that they weren't able to keep up with demand and even stocking stuff at some of their largest volume dealers. Part of the reason that we were told some of the low hanging fruit options like the HD P4.5 and HD P4X haven't hit the roster or been submitted. They can't keep up with current demand and have been having to batch various models at a time before switching gears and producing a different model that has built the backlog.

I could imagine if that's actually true that they feel like they've spread themselves too thin and want to prioritize dealers that comply with their directives, probably push their other ancillary products like their ammo brand or CPO program.

In that same line of thinking though I haven't heard news of any specific CA based FFLs/dealers that got cut as I imagine it's harder for them to deal with the compliance BS that California requires. Maybe some names will come out over the next week or something, but as of right now I haven't heard anything specific to CA. I do know though that they stopped taking new CA dealers a while ago as they were already over saturated/expanded too fast.

Terms of PPT and consignment for some manufacturers like Shiccato. Lots of gun mfgs. that covers like Vortex does.

Example: Nighthawk covers you, your friend, your family, your buyer, etc. Whether you are 2nd owner or 10th, it is covered for life.
