Sounds as if you could use a small grinder to smooth out the rough/sharp areas.

I did that with both of my Glocks. The thingy in the face of the trigger was sticking out too far when fully depressed and irritating my finger. So I held it in the most rearward position and ground it down so it was flush with the trigger itself. Now it no longer irritates my finger and it still works perfectly.

Maybe something I’ll look deeper into….and thanx.
I did change the trigger to a shorter and flatter unit that has a lip on the end so my finger remains higher. It is better but…. The OEM trigger is not a bad shape but the sweet spot makes my finger run low on it.

To explain further about what I did….

I found that that thing in the face of the trigger (What is that thing called?) stuck out proud of the trigger when it was fully depressed. This effectively created a small bump on the face of the trigger when firing the gun. It became very uncomfortable after a while.

After my modification, that trigger thing is flush with the trigger when it’s pushed into the trigger all the way and duplicates the contour of the trigger. Now my irritated finger is gone and the device still functions as it should.

Yup. Two particular pieces of šħįť come to mind. The first was an AMT Backup Pistol that I bought back in the 80's. It never could get through a full magazine (five rounds, if I recall correctly) without some kind of jam or misfire. AMT became known for their junky guns and eventually encountered financial difficulties. They ended up selling to High Standard--because High Standard is known for their high-quality guns.

The other junk gun was a Kimber Solo. That gun sure was pretty and a joy to carry, but I never did get through a box of ammo without a couple jams or misfires. It was sent back to the factory several times, and I can't possibly recall the number of times I had to talk to customer service. There was one little wæñķęř named Sergio who had the guts to suggest that the problem was with my technique, and perhaps I should enroll in a shooting class. I totally got hosed with that gun, and I'm still bitter about it. If anyone doubts me, mosey on over to the Kimber Forum. A LOT of their content is from new Kimber owners wondering why their new guns are malfunctioning. The general consensus is that they need to shoot the gun more to break it in. Personally, I prefer guns that run nicely right out of the box, without any gunsmithing or "breaking in period." I wasn't the only one with a low opinion of Kimber's Solo. So many were returned that they discontinued the gun. I'll never own another of their guns, and when asked, will always tell this story about their junky quality. I could go on and on, but I think you get the gist of what I'm trying to say.

i bought a Kimber pro carry ii about 2 years ago. Beautiful gun, but i almost didnt buy it because of forums trashing the company. I had seen people saying they did quality control and had been better the past couple of years. Then ran into a guy at the range with a new one, I loved it. went to the store and got myself one. It runs great. I only have problems with one ammo type jamming occasionaly. Maybe i got lucky or maybe they did clean things up a few years ago. I would personaly recmomend them now though.

Ruger LCP Max. Was excited to get a small 380 with a large capacity for backup carry. It's not a fun gun to shoot, the trigger sucks, the finish on the slide sucks, and S&W launched a much better pocket 380 shortly after I got the max.

Ended up buying a bodyguard 2.0 and selling the LCP Max. People are rushing to buy the new roster version of the max, I guarantee you there will be more than a few who won't like it once they get it in hand.

On the bright side Ruger is only selling the stainless steel slide in CA so you won't have to deal with the finish problems. If you have man sized fingers the trigger will bite you when firing. Not a problem for a gun you carry and never shoot, but training with it can get painful. If you want to make it a better shooter, the mcarbo trigger will remove the bite.

p365: everything seemed amazing about it on paper. Most popular selling gun in America, it was acclaimed.

I tried a couple hundred rounds at the range and hated how the subcompact p365 handled in my hands. Slim form factor made it feel unwieldy. As a point of reference, g19.3 finger grooves fit me perfectly and I even prefer my gen3 over my g19.5

Different with me. I like how small the p365 but the g19 was jamming.

Couldn't get it to shoot accurately or reliably without jamming.
The good news is everyone wanted one, and it sold quickly.

To troubleshoot your g19 jamming issue, respectfully were you limp wristing? Because limp wristing is known to cause glocks to consistently malfunction. Glocks need a solid grip to cycle properly. ie:

Agree with the note above about proper grip. The only other thing that consistently causes jamming is bad reloads.

Never had anything that I outright hated or experienced reliability issues with, but otherwise I can think of a few I didn't gel with.

1) The original M&P 9 due to the mushy trigger. The Apex kit was a definite improvement, but it still wasn't great. Granted this was circa 2011, so maybe there were further improvements.
2) The standard CZ SP01 was just meh. I really like variants the TS and various Tanfoglios, but the plain SP01 was just uninspiring in comparison.
3) VEPR-12. Again functionally it was fine, but it was very front-heavy in a way that made it a bit unfun to shoot in comparison to my other stuff.

I bought a Walther P22 Target thinking this will be a reliable and accurate 22 for $350. It bears the Walther name so it must be reliable! I was wrong. Multiple FTE and FTF. After 200 rounds, pulling the DA trigger will cause the safety to engage and not hit the firing pin. Overall, the gun felt cheap like a toy you would buy at Big 5.

Fortunately Walther has a 30-day buy-back guarantee and refunded everything minus the DROS fee. Much props to Walther for doing this! It was soon replaced with a Ruger Mark IV.

The second gun I regret was a Ruger Max-9. The trigger had a lot of side to side slop. The polymer at the grip was very thin, which resulted in a lot of initial shock to my hand. Don't get me wrong, I love Ruger But the Max-9 was sold immediately.

My first pistol. As a kid I would run to the counter At turners when my dad was looking at fishing gear to look at the ruger p90. I thought it was the coolest looking gun ever. Reality sunk in immediately after I got when I took it home years later when I was old enough to buy one.

A friend of mine who is a gun enthusiast but is not a shooter, never gotten training loaned me his. Total piece of crap. I even upgraded the recoil spring assembly . Get a Buckmark for the same price.

Ok, this is gonna piss off the VP9 Mob, but I bought the vp9’ shortly after it became available here. Damn I was underwhelmed lol. Sorry HK guys, nothing personal. I’ve just heard the VP9 hype for YEARS! So of course when HK made their announcement, what, a year ago, I was interested.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good gun but damn, after the hype I was underwhelmed. I am a Glock and 1911 guy. The most underwhelming part of the deal was the trigger. After hearing it was the best striker fired trigger for years, I was just like….blah. And the long take up is unacceptable. Granted, none of my glocks have stock triggers, and well, it’s not fair to compare vp9 triggers to 1911 triggers.

I also hate, hate, hate the mag disconnect, but I blame that on Sacramento.

I suppose even HK admitted the VP 9 triggers were sub optimal by upgrading them in their new and improved versions.

Sorry HK nuthuggers. I’m still keeping the gun for now.

My first pistol was a P89 and I feel your pain. Same as you, I would run over to the gun rack in Big 5 when my dad went there. My dad helped me buy it but once I started buying quality guns as an adult I realized what a brick it was. Interestingly San Diego PD issued the P89 to their officers for decades. I’ve no idea what they carry now as I moved.

The VP9 trigger reminded me of the Springfield XD9 trigger (Spongy take-up and then a rolling break). It's okay if you like it, but I don't see the $900 premium for the VP9. To me, it's another striker fired 9mm with a German price tag.
