Have you ever really wanted a firearm?And then when you got it it's Terrible

My first gun ever was a Plum Crazy polymer lower AR my uncle built and DROSD to me in 2011. That thing was insanely unreliable and would sometimes slamfire, was so relieved to sell it. It gave me such a bad taste for AR that I swore off ARs for 2 years and only had a WASR AK.

Other gun was my first pistol which was a Ruger P95. Such a beefy gun with a very squishy trigger that was tricky to master. Once I bought a Glock 19, I sold the P95 and never looked back.

This was my curse in shooting under barriers. I’m 6’4” and the low ones where you shoot under but sight over were tough.
 
Several AMT experiences here. You guys are old LOL.

My AMT Hardballer was one of my first pistols. POS functionally, finish was sharp and angular. Never shot it well.

All that said I’d buy a long slide version in a heartbeat, and not because it was the Terminators pistol . I love long slides and with what I know now I could fix the issues.

Wouldn’t touch an AMT Automagically II. Love the look and the idea of it, not the reality. Dear god don’t ever try to disassemble one.

I had a Longslide Hardballer long ago. That was during my very early days of 1911's, and I would be able to run it much better now too. Proper lube, and I'd change loads and springs too.
 
Glock 26 that couldn’t get through a magazine without at least two failures. Looked nice, felt terrible to shoot.
 
Surprised to see disappointment with P series Rugers, they are "tanks" for sure, but I picked up a couple P95s cheap, and they shoot one ragged hole "groups", hard to argue with that! As "utility" guns go, they check the reliability and accuracy boxes very well, as does the later SR9/SR9C which share mags with the PCC9.

On the flip side was a SD9VE (that the P95 replaced) that I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with... OK, maybe not QUITE that bad, but close! P95 showed me sometimes it's the gun not the shooter, and I've spoken with many P series owners that talk about how "laser accurate" they are.

If California wasn’t strict with its gun laws I’d have kept my P89 as a truck gun.

I like my P90DC. Like you said, a very accurate tank, haha!!

I bought a Cobray PM-11 back in 96-97. I bought it because of the cool factor. The Mac series guns always intrigued me, and this was an affordable copy.

It is the biggest POS I have in the collection. While it cycled reliably with whatever I fed it, it could hardly hit the black. It was awkward to shoot and slow cycling. And the topper is that everytime I'd take it out, the trigger guard would rub my trigger finger raw.

Even with all the failings, it was always a hit at the range. Everybody that saw it wanted to shoot it. Cool factor...meh.

I had the same issues with a new gen 5 Glock 26. I had to run a few boxes of hot ammo through it before it would run light target loads.
 
Hellcat Pro - worst trigger I've ever felt on a modern handgun. Must be 8+ lbs.

I'm trying to swap in the MCARBO spring upgrade kit to get the pull weight down to 4.5-5lbs. Hopefully that will improve the shootability!

What did you do with it, do you still have it?
 
The only one that comes to mind is the S&W 442. Admittedly, I was still somewhat new to firearms at the time I bought it and my shooting skills were not on par with my expectations.
 
Oh man, how could I forget my Zip 22?!? Haha!!

I’m a sucker for odd guns, and was this gun odd!! Thought it looked absolutely outrageous with a BX25 magazine. Got it back in the SSE1 heyday.

Wow, what a hunk of junk!! Even with the later ‘spring upgrade’ from the factory, it never runs for more than a few rounds.

The thing is, I can’t part with it. It’s just too damn ugly, haha!!

always, it's usually before you buy it or after you sold it.... guns, cars, bikes, etc...
 
Ok, so back in 2012 I SSE’d a Bond Arms derringer in 45ACP. I thought it would be a cool little fun gun to shoot. Nope, hurts like hell with 45! When I moved to Arizona I ordered the .410 barrel and that’s even more painful to shoot! My buddies that have shot it call it the “one and done”! I use it mostly now with the 9mm barrel in my tacklebox when kayak fishing. You never know when you’re going to catch a trout that’s too dangerous to net ;)
